Pergola Refuge

A plain yard provided an excellent canvas for a design that would truly feel like a getaway in Mission Hills, Kansas. An in-ground swimming pool is surrounded by grass rather than concrete, to create the look of a natural body of water. The pool has an automatic cover that is completely hidden when the pool is open. Also, stepping stones leading across the yard contribute to the “garden” feel. Seating inside the pool allows guests to relax in the water and enjoy the abundance of green space. Special landscaping that works with the existing trees hides all pool equipment.

An outdoor patio with fireplace and trellis were designed to ensure these elements coordinated with the already existing home.
